How we label Mexican origin

A brand can be Mexican while a particular bottle, can or carton is made elsewhere. That is why every product page shows how Mexican origin was evidenced in our research — and what still needs to be confirmed.

Why we show evidence instead of a simple “Made in Mexico” badge

Our catalog was compiled from producer catalogs, importer portfolios, brand-owner listings and regulatory registers. Those sources support Mexican origin with different degrees of certainty. Rather than flatten everything into one claim, each listing keeps the evidence type recorded in the research, and we confirm origin for the exact lot before quoting.

The evidence labels

Origin evidence used in the catalog
LabelWhat it meansListings
Tequila denomination of originTequila may only be produced in the protected denomination-of-origin territory in Mexico, so the product category itself establishes Mexican origin. Confirm the NOM (producer number) on the specific bottle you are quoted.966
Listed by a Mexican-wine importerThe listing comes from an importer that specializes in wines from Mexico. Producer, vintage and label version should be confirmed before quotation.263
Listed under Mexico in an importer catalogAn importer lists this product in its Mexico country catalog, often with the producing state or region. Current availability is not established by the listing.257
Mexican production stated by sourceThe source used for this listing states that the product is made in Mexico. Production can differ by market, package and date, so confirm the package you will receive.224
Mexican product per source listing (batch label not checked)The source listing presents this as a Mexican product, but a physical batch label was not inspected. Ask for label photos or a certificate of origin for the lot offered.184
Mixed set — verify each componentThis is a set, bundle or gift pack. Each component can have its own origin and documentation, so confirm the contents and origin of every item in the set.163
Mexican producer; plant for this item not verifiedThe brand belongs to a Mexican producer, but the plant that makes this specific item was not separately verified. Some producers also manufacture outside Mexico.116
Mexican-market product — verify package originThis is a product sold in the Mexican market. The brand may be produced in several countries, so the origin of the exact package must be verified before procurement.38

Markets where listings were found

Each product also shows the market where the source listing was found — for example the United States (1,878 listings) or Mexico's domestic market (305). A US listing can indicate that a US-compliant label exists, but it does not confirm current availability, stock or that we can supply that label version.

What we deliberately do not show

  • Prices — every quotation is prepared on request.
  • Stock or availability — retail availability seen during research changes daily and is not a wholesale commitment.
  • Retail source links — the research sources are kept for internal verification.

Blank fields are honest blanks

When the source did not publish a size, ABV or vintage, the product page says so. In the full workbook only 218 of 2,211 listings published a size and 42 published an ABV. We confirm those details with the supplier for every quotation rather than guess them.
